Hi Furparent Annie!
Vaccines are important especially in the first months of your puppy’s life. A vaccination series may be given to you by your veterinarian. A first dose of core vaccination may be given at 6-8 weeks, repeated every two weeks depending on the advise of your vet. Anti-Rabies may be given at 3 months old. Don’t forget the vaccinations against Kennel cough and heart worm prevention as well ? Be careful not to stress out the pup during vaccination periods ?
Hi Furparent Len!
Parvovirus is considered part of the diseases under Core Vaccinations. Luckily, there are one dose vaccinations that include immunity against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Leptospira, and Parvovirus. This is given as early as 6 weeks old and dependent on how many shots needed on your area and advise of your veterinarian ?
Hi Furparent Lourdes!
There are vaccines that include immunity against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Leptospira, and Parvovirus. This is given as early as 6 weeks old and dependent on how many shots needed on your area and advise of your veterinarian. Anti Rabies vaccines can be given as early as 3 months old. Anti Kennel cough can be given during one of your vaccination days.Deworming, antiparasitics, and heartworm preventive should also be part of your pup’s preventive health program ?
Hi Furparent Chelsea!
Deworming is important since there are worms that can be passed on from mother dogs to puppies. Deworming may start as early as 2 weeks of age and repeated every two weeks as well and is often given with their vaccinations. This may last with the duration of their primary vaccination series. This may also be given to growing and adult dogs who experience worm load in their stool. Heart worm preventive is also prioritized in deworming. Good luck!
What are the minimum vitamins that a dog should take? Also, would it be okay for him to take them all at the same time or half should be taken in the morning while the other half should be taken in the evening? Thanks
Hi Furparent Eduardo!
Congrats on your new pups! At 3 weeks old, they are likely to still be weaning off milk, this has enough vitamins and minerals po. Pwede na po natin dalhin ang puppies sa vet for deworming and suggested vaccination program. Ang Vitamins po ay pwede po ibigay at 8-12 weeks old po. Good luck po!
Hello Furparent Chelsea!
Deworming can be done as early as 2 weeks of age repeated every 2-3 weeks until your pup turns 3 months old. Then you may transition into deworming, and tick and flea preventives that are done every 3 months, depending on the anti-parasitic meds you prefer. Remember to also give heart worm preventives too. Good luck!
Hi Furparent Rhamie!
Our Dogs need vitamins such as water-soluble Vit C and B-complex, and fat-soluble vitamins A,D,E and K. There are specific amounts per vitamin that your dog needs and excess may lead to illness, unless specifically prescribed by your veterinarian. With a balanced nutrition like Pedigree, additional supplementation isnt required unless prescribed. If advised to take give once daily, give once daily to limit the stress time from giving medication for your dog. Good luck!
Hi! Ask lang po if yung deworming and heart worm ay magkaiba po? If yes po and di ko po napa-take for heartworm yung pup ko po and she’s 8 mos. now, pwede pa rin po siyang magtake nang for heartworm? Thank you po! ?
My furbaby is a pedigree kiddo but lately he is having dandruffs and it is an itchy thing for him. He takes a bath every 3 days and his soap is his regular bearings shampoo. I hope you could advise me on what to do. Thanks
Hi Furparent Virginia!
The first vaccine puppies should get is the 5-in-1 vaccine as early as 6 weeks old, they may get deworming first as early as 2 weeks of age. Good luck!
Hi Furparent Hana!
yes, this can be confusing at times. Magkaiba po sila, some dewormers do not have the certain ingredient to prevent heartworm. Most heartworm preventives are chewable tablets while others are yearly injectables similar to vaccines. Some chewables can be given at 6 weeks, while inejctables can be given at 6 or 12 months. Your vet may advise you which is best depending on your area. Good luck!
Hi Furparent Belle!
The anti-rabies vaccine can be given as early as 3 months old. As long as you give the vaccine, it will be okay. The sooner the better since the Philippines is not rabies-free. This should be repeated annually as well. Good luck!
Hi Furparent Bheng!
For ticks and fleas, there are many available chewable tablets as well as spot-on treatments. These should be given regularly as to prevent any infestations and possible illnesses from these parasites. If skin irritation occurs, you may consult with your vet for the proper shampoo and instructions of use. Good luck!
Hi Furparent Edgar,
For fungal infections, please visit the vet for a proper diagnosis of the kind of infection your furbaby is dealing with, so you may treat it properly. There are several antifungal/microbial shampoos and soaks available and it’s important to know which will be the most suitable one.
For the ears, it is best to get a veterinary ear cleanser with gauze or cotton pads that will fold into the ear. Rinse and cleanse twice a day, depending on the dirt and debris load. Good luck!
Hi Furparent Camille!
For your furbaby, itchy skin can often be caused by irritation, environment, fungi/bacteria, or even parasites. Let’s make sure that your pup gets their regular anti-tick/flea preventive, regular grooming, and healthy diet such as pedigree to protect their skin and coat. You may also opt to change their shampoo as a trial. Good luck!
